Q
Sam, I have
a good question for you: Can plastic tennis ball cans be recycled?
A
A - Yes! The "cans"
that tennis balls come in are made of a PET #1 plastic
that is accepted
in the
Containers recycling category. The machines that are used
to screen
the metal caps from soda bottles can also screen
the metal rings out of tennis ball cans.
Q
Hi
Sam - I need different formats for playing round robins; especially
if you have
an odd number of people, or if more than 8 show up--say 10 or 12.
We just
have two courts. Hope you can help me out!!! Thanks so much.
A
When I have a round
robin, I number a sign-in sheet with 1 through ?,
one side guys and one side girls if it is mixed, if not just number
straight down.
Guys
------ Gals
1 Joe ------ 2 Jane
3 Jim ------ 4 Jill
5 Jay ------ 6 Jamie
7 Jack ------ 8 Jackie
Then create a
sheet with the number of courts you have...
say 2 courts and write 4 numbers on each court, two guys and two girls
example:
court one, 1, 2, 3, 4, so Joe and Jane will play Jim and Jill
court two 5, 6, 7, 8 and Jay and Jamie play Jack and Jackie
then after a half hour switch players around
court one 5, 2, 7, 4
court two 1, 6, 3, 8
just keep mixing up the numbers!
If you have an
uneven number of people you can rotate two in after 15, or 30 mins.
or
even rotate after each person serves...... each person gets to play
four games,
and it keeps people moving so that no one has to sit for a long time.
Hope this helps! SAM
Q
Hi , I am
a school teacher from Pennsylvania. I could really use some used
tennis balls for the legs on my classroom chairs, my floors are really
paying a price. A web search indicated that your group is involved
in
recycling tennis balls. Could you help me locate about about 150 of
them?
A
The Middle States
USTA may be of help in finding balls in your area, check their website.
Also, contact your local tennis club and they may have old balls to
donate to you.
