Make a Tennis Racquet Cake

Letter to Tennis Affinity
"Hi, I have a real dilemma...In two weeks my grandfather will be turning 90 years old, and he has always been an avid Tennis player..Last year for his birthday, I made him a square shaped cake in the form of a whole tennis court. This year I wanted to make him another cake, but in the form of a Tennis racquet...I have searched everywhere, stores, online, etc,etc... No one has supplies for anything to do with Tennis!! Can you please help me find someone with a suggestion? Thank you, Marlene"

Tennis Cake Instructions
  • You need - Two round cake pans and one cake mix. Bake cake as per instructions. Refer to diagram below for cutting cake. Then piece together to form the tennis raquet shape.
  • Make a tray - Cover a cookie sheet/cardboard for cake pieces.
  • To create racquet - Place one round (A) at top end
of tray for the middle of the racquet, and place one cresent shape (B) on bottom to make handle transition and one on top (D) to finish oval shape of racquet. (You will have to cut edges and bring them in to smooth side edges) Then place the rectangle (C) for the end of the racquet handle.
  • Decorate - Using icing-- possibly small round licorice for the strings.

Kids Party Game

Give each player a tennis racquet stirrer. Have them hold the flat surface of the
racquet parallel to the ground. Place a marshmallow on the racquet surface.
The kids can do races/relays to keep the marshmallow in place.
